Wrestling Gear

There are a couple things that you have to use while wrestling, this is head gear, jock strap, mouth piece, wrestling shoes, and wrestling outfit.  These are all used for the safety of the wrestlers, and the outfit is so that neither wrestler has a unfair advantage.  We will go over what the different wrestling gears does and how it keeps you safe.  Three of the five items are standard and are all pretty much the same that is the jock strap, mouth piece, and head gear.  These are normally just bought and pretty much look the same, and protect everyone the same way.  The two pieces that will become unique is the shoes, and the wrestling outfits.  

These two pieces are normally the same colors as your school colors, and often are different styles depending on what the wearer wants.  Safety is very important when it comes to wrestling, we will go over each piece of wrestling gear and tell you want the importance of them are. 

• Wrestling shoes are very important for wrestlers because they are designed to be like not having shoes on at all.  But they add extra safety in the ankle support and with traction.  They are always used to so that while wrestling someone doesn't get scratch with a nail, and it stops the spread of foot fungus among other players that they come in contact with.   They also give the wearer more traction while he is wrestling as well.

• Wrestling headgear is lite protection for the wrestlers ears, although it does give limited protection to the head as well.  There are up to six different straps that you use, two of them go behind the head, two that go on the top of your head, and 2 that will be placed underneath the chin.  This form of protection is mainly to protected the wrestler from getting what is called as cauliflower ear.

• Mouth piece is another piece that protects the mouth of the wearer, and the their opponent.  During the match the two combatants can hit heads together, or accidental bite their own tongues, or other parts of the mouth.  A mouth piece stops that from happening by protecting their teeth, the wrestler puts a plastic or rubber type piece over their teeth so that there is no chance that they can bite their own tongues.  It also protects their opponent as well, because in the heat of competition if you hit heads or something and your teeth go down on someones skull that could potentially hurt your opponent and yourself.

• Jock strap is exactly what it sounds like, this protects the private parts of your body.  During a wrestling match there are chances that you could fall wrong, or your opponent fall wrong and you could hurt yourself.  This object protects against that by shielding.  It also acts as a support so that it don't just move around in there too much.

• Wrestling outfit is normally worn so that no one has a upper hand, they are all basically made the same way, and out of the same material.  The only differences are minor like colors, sizes, and leg length.  The material is normally a polyester material that will stand up to a lot of wear and tear. 
  

Over all there are many choices to choose from when you have to purchase these items.  There are many different brands that make the shoes including Reebok, Nike, Asics, and many others.  The same can be said for the outfits. Under Armour, Spalding, Champion, and others make the outfits.  You can buy any of this stuff right around wrestling season in any sporting goods store.
